Master of Aeneid (c1500 - c1550). The cycle of the Master of the Aeneid in the Louvre is a group of paintings attributed to an anonymous painter called the Master of the Aeneid. The paintings, illustrating scenes from the Aeneid, were made with enamel on copper plates. The first in the cycle, Venus and Juno Decide to Help the Love of Dido and Aeneas, was purchased in 1912. Ten additional paintings from the cycle were given to the Louvre in 1922 by Adelheid von Rothschild.
