Newburyport. Newburyport is a small coastal, scenic, and historic city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States, 35 miles northeast of Boston.

The Newburyport Turnpike still traverses Newburyport on its way north. The Newburyport/Rockport MBTA commuter rail from Boston's North Station terminates in Newburyport. Newburyport was settled in 1635 as part of Newberry Plantation, now Newbury.
