American painter of German birth. He exhibited in Cologne in 1847 and may have studied in Dusseldorf. Emigrating to the USA in 1848, he lived, worked and exhibited in New York City until 1852, when he moved to Pennsylvania, settling in Williamsport. He is last listed in the Williamsport directories of 1872. Roesen was a prolific, if uneven, painter.
