English painter, engraver and draughtsman. He began his training in engraving and draughtsmanship under his father Edward Rooker (d1774), an architectural engraver and pantomime actor. Later he served as pupil of or assistant to Paul Sandby and in the 1770s engraved a series of the latter’s country-house views, published as The Copper-plate Magazine.
